Phishing: A Hackers Sport For Credit Card Details

As virus' become more and more a thing of the past, new threats are emerging to keep PC users from feeling to safe. It's because of a new generation of hackers have surfaced. They are much sneakier and far professional than their predecessors. Microsoft had their hands full as they patched more bugs than ever before, also a whole new class of flaws were recently discovered in kernel drivers and office suites.

Another potential threat is known as Phishing, this involves setting up fake web-sites used to gather consumer information, such as credit card numbers. The credit card numbers are often sold to other people on-line. 20,000 complaints related to phishing were issued in May. According to the Department of Justice this was a 34 percent increase over the previous year.

It's not all sunny days and endless beaches for hackers as law enforcement agencies begin cooperating more smoothly and become more organized. Help is streaming in from the private sectors as well. Microsoft has been busy filing civil suits and assisting law enforcement agencies with criminal cases concerning phisher's.

PC user's are strongly encouraged to stay current with possible security threats, as new solutions and problems arise everyday. As long as there are computers, hackers are sure to be lurking in cyber-shadows.
